Dr. Ted Suen is currently the Chief Information Officer (CIO) for MTR Corporation. As the CIO for MTR, Ted is responsible for formulating the corporate Digital transformation strategy and the Cyber Security strategy. Ted manages the overall MTR corporate IT functions for all business units in MTR. Ted has successfully transformed the MTR IT environment into highly robust and scalable digital platform. Prior to this position, Ted had held various senior regional management positions in different multi-national corporations, including Managing Director of EDS Hong Kong, Regional Director of Greater China and Korea of IT Outsourcing services of EDS, Regional Director of Asia Pacific Global Best Shore Services of Hewlett Packard.
Ted is actively serving the community and is member of several governing advisory committees in the professional, community and academic organizations. He is the President of Hong Kong Computer Society and has been in this role since 2017. He is also audit committee member and finance committee member of Hong Kong Housing Society, Chairman of the Department Advisory Committee of Department of Computer Science of City University, member of advisory committee of graduate employment of Hong Kong Baptist University, and academic advisors to several universities in Hong Kong.
Ted is a Fellow member of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers, and Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport. Ted was recipient of several prestigious IT awards in the last few years including the 2012 China Top 5 CIO Award, the 2013 China Best Value CIO Award, the 2013 Hong Kong Outstanding Performance IT Award Excellence, the 2013 Hong Kong CIO Award for Large Enterprise, the 2014 Asia CIO Award, and 2019 ASEAN Top 20 CIO Award.
Ted graduated from the Australian National University with double degrees in Economics and Science. He also holds a master’s degree in accountancy, a master’s degree in applied business research, and a doctorate degree in business administration.
